    Hello
I've tried to compile php4 with apache and mysql on a linux box running Redhat 6.2 several times now and I always get the same error when compiling --with-mysql:

    # apache configtest Syntax error on line 238 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server: libmysqlclient.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Both files exists. "libmysqlclient.so.6" in /usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql/
    my latest config for:
    PHP - ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs
    --with-config-file-path=/usr/local/etc
    --with-mysql
    APACHE - ./configure --with-layout=Apache --enable-module=most --enable-shared=max --disable-rule=WANTHSREGEX

I would suspect that there is no path to your files. Maybe add to the path info to include your directories in the PATH so system programs can find them.
