I have installed PHP4.0.1pl2 alongwith Apache13.12. I am a newbie with php and apache.
When i gave
it worked fine and gave the information of php.
I tried escape sequence characters...like n t and these didnt work.
echo("Hi theren Whats tyour name"); #The n and t doesnt work
It just displays the text withing "" but does not show n or t.
Also if i try something like this:
echo("Duke's my name"); #it shows me Duke's my name, i dont even have to Duke's
I also tried this:
<% echo("ASP syntax"); #This doesnt work too.
Does anyone know whats wrong. Also normal echo() and print() statements work.

n has no meaning in html, nor does t
Nor do you have to escape ' or " unless they are contained within another set of the same character in a tag.
print "<a href="somewhere.php">click here</a>";
The reason you didn't have to escape the ' is because it was contained in "
ASP style tags are not always supported. They can be turned off in the php.ini file.
