    Hi All,

I am having diffuclty getting PHP to install correctly (I believe) and hope someone can help me.

I have latest PHP 4.0 revison and PWS 4.0.

Here is what I have done so far:

    1. Extracted PHP to c:utilphp
    2. Placed php.ini (with no changes) into c:windows
    3. Placed both DLLs into c:windowssystem - one was already there, so W98 did not over write it.
    4. regedit so that .php extension goes to c:utilPHPphp4isapi.dll
    5. Set PWS permisisons so wwwroot had execute, script and read permission.

    Trying loopback 127.0.0.1/test.html works
    Trying loopback 127.0.0.1/test.php does not.

Error is: Warning: Failed opening 'C:Inetpubwwwroottest.php' for inclusion (include_path='') in Unknown on line 0

Both test.html and test.php are in the wwwroot directory.

If some one could help me with any ideas what is wrong, or even a word for word work around / fix, that would be greatly appreciated.

    Thx,
    Dave

Sorry for this but did you re-boot your machine?

Yep, I did reboot several times ;-). Given the instructions did not mention doing this, I figure that there must (hope) be something basic that I missed doing.

I guess I'm a little confused at this point.
The doc says to edit the reg file included in the release and save it. It doesn't mention where the file goes or that you should actually do a regedit from the RUN dialog.
    Which is it?
What I did was uninstall PWS from win98 and used
the Xitami server instead. Which only needed to launch http://127.0.0.1/admin from browser.
Then click on config-> Filters and enter:
    php3 chp3php.exe
Well I haven't tried php4 yet but imagine its similar.
Also just checking. Did you use double for the path?
    ".php"="C:utilPHPphp4isapi.dll"

Okay, well thanks for the advice. I ended up getting it working (only to have my cable modem go out ;-( ).

Anyway, the difficulty was apparently that windows (word pad) was saving files with a .txt extension AND not showing it in the GUI. The program files where xxx.php.txt which was apparently causing things to hash up in weird ways. Fun and joy of Windows... if only I could go back to HP-UX/linux for this project ^_^.
