I am having problems with the
<input type=file name=to_upload>
Tag.

I noticed that you can't specify the
value attribute throught several submissions. What I have is an employee database and a form to enter new employees and upload a picture of them.

I have the script checking if there is a value for first and last name etc.. If they don't enter the required fields the form wont let them submit the information instead it tells them to complete the empty fields on the form. The field that they have already filled in retain there value through multiple submissions. The problem I am having is that the <input type=file name=file *****value=$foo*****> Doesn't work as it does with the text input types. I was wondering how I would get the file field to retain its value through multiple submissions.

You don't. That's one thing you can't do with form file types. I would verify everything, THEN go to another form to upload the pic.
