How to Interact w/ and extract from other web sites web pages all from PHP?

I don't need all the details here, but can someone point me in the direction as to how I can, from within PHP, interact with other web sites' pages? For example say I want to interact with yahoo.com whereby I can fill in the Yahoo search field, then retrieve and extract from the search results generated, all this from within PHP.

Each site is different, so you'll have to go to each site and figure it out. Yahoo! passes variables in the url, so dload their script and go figure.
