Can I use Joomla for an offline / practice website?

    Hello friends,

I have been reading about the benefits of using Joomla.

I recently downloaded it, but it says on the website you need to type in your websites URL, which I don't have since mine is offline.

IS there any real benefit to using Joomla, or am I better off doing the PHP myself?

My reference was the Joomla website and Google.

    Thanks in advance to everyone

Install a webserver, php and MySQL on your local machine, and practise with Joomla to your heart's content.
    Your website is http://localhost

Yes, and no to both parts of your question. Joomla is as fixed, or flexible, as you want it to be.
It depends on whether you want a website, or want to learn php.

Do you need to learn to use a shovel, or do you just want the holes it can dig?
