As per my opinion, There is no need to go at any Institute for learning PHP. PHP is an open source, and it's really very easy to learn online. There is an official website of PHP, which is www.php.net So you can use this site to learn PHP in a proper manner. In addition, You can go through w3schools.com

w3schools is not good for anything. Ignore it.

if you are wondering why, give this a read

edit: also just found this. I don't know what everyone else thinks of nettuts+ but most what I have seen on there has been pretty good. This page has some pretty good pointers for people who are new to php. http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/ph...for-beginners/

Well actually for those who just build their personal site for fun, w3schools may be more than enough for them. However, assuming you actually wish to become a decent programmer, you better not rely on w3schools for PHP.

w3schools isn't suitable for anyone. Saying that it's "good enough for amateurs" is just arrogant. Why should an amateur programmer use false and obsolete information?

w3schools is simply bad, and it's one of the reasons why all those bad practices from the 90s just won't die out. I wonder why it still has so many fanboys who'll recommend it whenever they can. Must be the same reason why some people like Lady Gaga.

Well I was kinda referring to complete hobbyist who do not even have to learn much about PHP. But yeah, you have a point.

And dont you think many of these users who seem to be recommending w3schools sound like bots? Especially this one Seth20:

    Regarding JDK installation

Being a beginner, you should go for html and use notepad++ for better results.

Maybe a moderator should finally close this thread. It's nothing but a playground for SEO bots (which seem to be triggered by keywords like "learn php").
