the error is "undefined function"
this means, it cant find the function "mysql_connect"
try to compile php with MySQL support
and RTFM before starting this

If u are using the Redhad distrib RPM's, then the PHP RPM doesnt support MySQL normally. Instead download the PHP source code and apache source and then recompile apache with PHP and MySQL support afresh.
Just follow the instructions in the help. Its that simple and u get PHP zipping away wtih MySQL data conncetion - propah !
