I have a few questions about mysql and php.

is there anyway to list a group of data from a mysql table in alphabetical order? or choose to only look at data that start with a letter?

is there any way to overwrite data in a mysql table using php?

    (this is a biggy)
lets say I had a mysql table with user_names and user_passwords. and i wanted only registered users to post to a feedback form or bulletin board. how would I check to see if the username corresponds to the password? Also, how would I cookie them so they wouldn't have to type there usernames and passwords in again?

Any help would be great. I'm starting a pretty big project, and I don't quite understand some of the things listed above.

    Thanks!

You can find info & tutorials on all the above here at devshed, or at http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey

    or www.phpbuilder.com
www.weberdev.com has some great scripts tucked away beneath its really dodgy layout/navigation.
www.hotscripts.com has loads of PHP/MySQL stuff as well.
