PHP-Extension - Pear Mailer & Net_SMTP
Was looking at the PEAR mailer class here: http://pear.php.net/package/Mail/ & noticed that you can optionally use the Net_SMTP here: http://pear.php.net/package/Net_SMTP/

My question is.... is this needed to send with SMTP with the PEAR mailer? If not... what is it's use?
