I'm unexperiences in using cookies and now I would like a cookie that holds the time of the last visit of a visitor (unix time)

can anybody give me more info on this or provide me with an example script ?

I'm not 100% sure on this, but here goes:

setcookie("nameofcookie",time(),"expirytime");

should give $nameofcookie with the time that setcookie ws run.
