At home I'm used to Apache, PHP3 and MySQL on win95. However I need to set up a test-environment at work. I've installed Red Hat 6.1, MySQL 3.22.32, PHP 4.0.0 and Apache 1.3.12. But I still need to do a re-make for Apache after installing PHP. When I use the command ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache --activate-module=src/modules/php4/libmodphp4.a everuthing seems to go okay, even when I run make and make install everything goes fine. Howevre when I check httpd -l I don't see the mod_php4.c listed. Does anybody know how to fix this.
Thankx

Good luck,

You are not supposed to see it from there. What you likely to see is 'http_core.c' and 'mod_so.c'.

Nothing needs to be fixed. Please tell us what is your actual problem.

According to the documentation on php.net I should see the mod_php4.c file in the same list as http_core.c and mod_so.c.
But what actually is happening is that the browser want to download the files. I had it on my home system, but that was caused by an AddHandler. There aren't any there right now on my work, so.......
Thanks

Add this line to your httpd.conf within the <IfModule mod_mime.c> and </IfModule>.
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php4
Then run ./apachectl graceful

AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php4
Then run ./apachectl graceful
Did that, but no improvement.
I made a test.php4 with <?php phpinfo(); ?>. I also made similar files called test.php and test.php3.
The test.php now asks me to download the file, the test.php3 shows the code (obvious, because it doesn't know the mime-type) and the test.php4 takes forever to download and still hasn't timed out after 5 minutes. So now I'm totally puzzled.

Okay deleted everything and started from scrath with those instructions. I didn't install gd and jpeg. Everything installed perfectly (eg no errors ).
I can start apache, but when I type http://10.151.219.3/ in my browser I get a HTTP 404 Error (Not found).
I looked at httpd.conf and DocumentRoot is /home/httpd/htdocs (like given in the install sequence). When I look in this directory all the nescessary files are there. But still I don't know why I'm getting this error. Even rebooting doesn't help.
Does anybody know where to look?
Thanx
