PostgreSQL++PHP...HELP!!!

I am slowly loosing my mind to this. All was well as long as I worked with MySQL. Now I have to work with PostgreSQL, and I just don't dig it.

Is there anyone out there who worked on somethng like this before?? Or knows of any good tutorials???

I haven't yet worked with PostgreSQL on PHP yet but I hope to soon, because Postgres has enterprise-level features.

One good place to go is www.phpwizard.net,, where you can download phpPgAdmin, which uses PHP as a Postgres admin frontend, and browse through their source code, to see examples of PHP and Postgres in action.

Also, you could post the first question at the PostgreSQL forum here at DevShed.

I actually found Postgres to be too experimental and incomplete for my use. Make sure those "features" that attract you are already developed and not just "planned".

I was surprised that I couldn't even do a DROP COLUMN. Postgres doesn't support that yet (unless this has changed in the last few months).

I hope Postgres makes it big. I'd like to see a powerful open-source object-relational database with full atomicity and stored procedures; but I'm not sure if it's there yet.

Well, I found out that there is no easy way to add somethng like auto_increment whem you create the table. Not to mention that all of the PHP functions act a little strange...

Yep it pretty much sucks - but as you have to work with it - http://www.elite2000.f2s.com has a basic intro to interacting with PostgresSQL, and http://www.freedom2surf.com itself has a help forum for PHP/PostgresSQL although as it is a free server you get all sorts of strange questions there!

Oh man...This is the solution I came to, but I thought that there is a more elegant way to do it. Something like with MySQL. But thanks a lot, you were all cery helpful. :-))
