    Resume parsing using PHP codes


    I am developing a requirement tool.I want to do Resume Parsing ,means reading a Word document file resume and after parsing , send some required informations like candidate Name,Email-ID,Phone No. , Experience etc.to the data base automatically in PHP. Can you give me some idea how to do this ?

    You can do this by coding it. Probably with PHP/ASP/Perl. MySQL may be used here as well. A server like Apache will help host everything, you will need Firefox to view it. You need a good server OS too, I suggest Windows 3.0 as it is the fastest thing in the world. Good luck with this project, and don't fail and become an hero.

    There's a resume parsing project being developed by one of the guys on the OpenCATS project - opencats.org.

    Perhaps you two could collaborate.

    Resume Parsing Techniques


    Hi,
    I am also working on the same task. I got some information about this topic. In Word 2003/2007, word document is now come up with xml. That is called as wordml. Using that wordml, one possiblity of extracting individual elements. But the word format is differ with each canditate. Anybody can give more information related this?

    You're probably referring to (one of) the open-source formats, which Microsoft wisely decided to implement. Properly, one can hope.

    It's just another file format, like .doc .rtf etc.

    What hasn't been mentioned yet is COM - but only if you're running on a Windows server.
