    You can use this function :

    window.open("filename","windowname");

    show us how you did it - was it like this?

    <a href="#About>link to about</a>
    ......
    <a name="About">etc etc etc </a>

    cos that should work.

    for the second - try
    <a href="thispage.htm" target="_blank">link text</a>

    Hi
    Thanks for your help
    I've solved it the problem was that when linking to a place in the same page the the link should point to "MyPage.php3?#top"
    instead of "MyPage.php3#top"
    I mean I had to put a "?" before "#"
    and it works
    this also solves the problem with opening a new window.

    Thank you very much for helping
