    could anyone tell me how to combine two string variables into one?
    is there any function in php that's equivalent to strcat() in c++?

    try this:

    $first = 'huaren';
    $second = '1978';
    $both = $first . $second;

    or

    $name = 'huaren';
    $name .= '1978';
