PHP's upload function places a temporary file in the temp directory specified as the temporary file directory in PHPINFO().

What happens to the file if there isn't a temporary directory assigned during configuration of PHP?

It should use the system's temp directory, such as /tmp for unix or c:windowstemp on win32
