Does anyone know if there is a function to create simple XLS files from php3?
Thanks in advance!

This is really more of a question about invoking Microsoft COM objects, and it only works using PHP on a Windows server, so to actually create the XLS file, you should go to msdn.microsoft.com for more info.
However, a simple way around this is just to use PHP to create a small text file of comma separated values (CSV), and save it with the extension .csv, which means when double-clicked on a system with Excel installed, it will open as a single Excel worksheet.
phpMyAdmin does this when it dumps a MySQL table ( http://www.phpwizard.net ).
