Does anybody know if it will pose any licensing problems from Unisys or the likes when using PHP to create dynamic GIFs?
In that case does anybody know if there are plans for a PNG module for PHP instead?
*shrug* i haven't heard anything about it, but I'm sure if the use becomes widespread, they'll probably latch onto it..
as far as the PNG module...why don't you write one?
The gd library at http://www.boutell.com/gd/ can be compiled with PHP. It creates PNG, Jpeg, and WBMP files. Better yet, install gd with Freetype (http://www.freetype.org/) and you can create images which use TrueType fonts.
Yes, gd used to create GIFs, but had to stop because of licensing issues.
Thanks for the replies, I'll try and get my webhost to install the GD lib with freetype.
