    I may be very wrong, but I've seen this done somewhere: not sure if it works for SSI though.

    exec("SSI_COMMAND_HERE");

    I will not be held responsible if this trashes your server! Though there's no good reason why it should.

    In accordance with the Manual,

    These PHP functions would be the equivalent to SSI functions:

    exec();
    include();
    date("",getlastmod());
    getEnv();

    I tend to use include() myself, just like SSI.
