Never install rpm of apache and php. RPM of apache or php has no way of knowing what options you want to enable/disable. The default sucks! To get maximum flexibility, you should compile from source.

You have just compiled at any time the Apache with PHP4 and Mysql?
I have just installed the components with php3 (with the description on http://www.tantalo.net) but i would wonder if it works also with php4!? Have you time to compile this components??
