    Hello,

    I'm fairly new with php.
    I've got a problem.
    When i try to open a .dbf file called test.dbf with the dbase_open() function i get the followinng errormsg:
    Call to undefined function: dbase_open()

    how do i get rid of it.
    i have this problem on both windows and linux.
    on windows i added all the extensions( extension=php_dbase.dll).

    here are some examples of code i used
    <?
    dbase_open(test.dbf,0);
    ?>
    <?
    dbase_open(test.dbf,1);
    ?>
    <?
    dbase_open(test.dbf,2);
    ?>
    <?
    $dbasepath="test.dbf" ;
    dbase_open($dbasepath,2);
    ?>

    None of these worked on my linux or windows.

    Please help me out.

    Open up your php.ini file (in the php3 or php4) directory and uncomment the following line:

    extension=php3_dbase.dll

    That's what allows you to communicate with dbase.

    While I'm not familiar with a predefined dbase_open() function, I had to fiddle with my setup using include/require.

    In the end, I put the function in a .inc file, brought it in using require, then called the function. The function contains the code required to connect to and select my dbase.

    I just peeked in PHP Programming (great book!) and see the function is defined as "dba_open()". You may just be calling it by the wrong name.

    Hope this helps.

    No, dbase_open is correct...
