My setup (or would be setup):
    -Redhat 6.2
-Apache 1.3.12 (RPMS on rh62 CD)
    -PHP 4.0.0
    -Oracle 8i R2
I ran PHP with MySQL support for a while, but now I'm porting to Oracle(orders from the man). The problem lies in when I'm done compiling and try to start httpd. It seems ok, but if I check with "ps | grep httpd" it's not running. I compile with "./configure --with-apxs --with-oci8"

Any help at all would be great.

What is the full path to apxs?

The full path is /usr/sbin/apxs, but I don't need to specify since it's located where PHP think it is.

So what do you get running /path/to/httpd -l?

    >>-Apache 1.3.12 (RPMS on rh62 CD)
You shouldn't install apache RPM at all.

Anyway, what I would do is to check the error_log and see if it looks okay. Also, how did you restart apache? Using ./apachectl graceful?

This is what I get when httpd -l:
    Compiled-in modules:
    http_core.c
    mod_so.c
    suexec: disabled; invalid wrapper /usr/sbin/suexec
So there's something wrong there obviously I hope you know what.

I restart httpd hith this command (I think this is Redhat only): /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd restart

Here is a complete listing of the apache error_log:
[Tue Jun 27 10:24:21 2000] [notice] Apache/1.3.12 (Unix) configured -- resuming normal operations
[Wed Jun 28 08:24:55 2000] [notice] caught SIGTERM, shutting down

Everything looks fine but DSO just doesn't link properly when using apache RPM. I suggest you to uninstall your apache and PHP4.0.0, then reinstall apache_1.3.12.tar.gz and the latest php-4.0.1.tar.gz. As for your installed Mysql and Oracle, you can keep them untouched. Please go to: http://www.devshed.com/Talk/Forums/F...ML/000020.html

RPM is good, but you should avoid installing apache RPM if possible.
