Ok, I have narrowed the PHP books that I want to either PHP Essentials or Professional PHP Programming. So, does anyone have any recommendations betweenthe two?
I like PHP Essentials because it is newer (April 2000 vs. Dec 1999), however Pro PHP Prog has more pages (~350 vs. ~900) which seems to me that it has more info. Also, I have this mentality that bigger is better.
Any ideas on which book is better for me since I have very littel programming experience.

Definitely go with Professional PHP Programming..
This book may be older, but it is an EXCELLENT start for a beginner like you. The examples are well rounded and they will really give you a head start with learning PHP.

Even if you're new, Professional PHP Programming is a great book to have. Well worth the investment. So is Julie Meloni's book if you're just starting. If you can only afford one, go with Pro PHP. Also take a look around JM's website at thickbook.com. Far as I can tell, most or all of the book examples are there, plus some very useful tutorials.
