I've been trying to install PHP 4 pl2 under Redhat 6.2 with mcal, pdflib and gd support among other things. I haven't yet been able to get a successful compile despite having done hours of research and preparation.

I'm sure that out there somewhere someone is reading this thinking "Hey I got it to work!" If that's you please please please if you could document or even just be happy to receive email from someone desperate to get the above functions working - please let me know.

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

Hi Matt, there are so many things that could be going wrong, do you want to post up a few more details, such as:
    ./configure --settings (apache and php)
    compile time errors

    Bealers

I don't know about mcal or pdflib support, but gd has been the cause of many late nights for PHP developers. I finally managed to get it to work, using some rather torturous means, which I have documented at the PHP site. My platform was FreeBSD, but I think most of it will be similar, if not easier, with Linux. Go to:
    http://www.php.net/manual/ref.image.php

and look for the post by rick@e-possibility.com in the user contributed notes at the bottom.

If you try my approach, please let me know how it goes with Linux; I am curious. Specifically, I am wondering if the gd.c and gdcache.h files need to be modified, as needed on FreeBSD.

Ok change of approach. I've found a couple of places that have PHP RPMs for Redhat. So far everything is working beautifully, including GD, but unfortunately there are no RPMs for MCAL or PDFLIB. Does anyone know of anything similar to this? Here is the site I'm talking about....
