I want to insert an image(.gif) in my E-Mails as I can do in Outlook (embedded images, not as attachement)
    How can I do it in PHP-generated E-Mails ???

Do you mean the image as 'an attachement' or just you want to 'insert inside you mail'?

if you want to attach the image as an attachemnt then read the following article.

also you may get some useful help from the following link

Im assuming that you want to send HTML emails, if so, dont, it's nasty IMO.
You'll have to specify absolute urls for images which means that mail clients like M$ Outlook will try to dial up even if the reader is 'working offline'
