This may be just an html problem. When I use $PHP_SELF to submit a form to a page that is within an html frame, the data doesn't get posted. When I display the page outside of the frame (or by itself), then submit the data, it works fine. What am I missing here?

Try adding target="frame_name" into your <FORM> tag... that should fix up that problem.
