Why do I get an error when using the list() function when I have php4 installed?

    The error is...

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: () in [insert php path here]

Thanks to anyone who can help.

You don't need anything special to use list(). maybe it's something else in that line, or how you are using it? Can you show the lines of code with the error?

I'm at a loss. I use this function all the time in the manner you've shown and I've never seen that error. It doesn't even make sense, really. doesn't this error usually give the functio name like "call to undefined function get_some()" rather than just "()"??

    sorry i can't help anymore.

Well, I know this probably isn't the answer your looking for, but..

The only time I've ever seen an error like that is when the PHP version being run does
    not support the function called.

I would only say to check the function list on the php.net site, and see which version of
php the list() function was added to.

then verify your version is the appropriate version 4.0.x This could be something like
a 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 function.. off the top of
my head I don't really know which.
