I am working on a website that requires the matching of two groups of people.

Both groups must be able to complete a form, after that their entries must be put in a searchable database.

on www.aupair.com you can see a perfect example of what I need (look at the functions under 'apply')

Are there any php scripts out there (preferably free)that do this?

The biggest problem with searching for a script to handle a form for you is that the script will probably not match your needs. Scripts you find will be written for a database which does not hold all the data, or the type of data, you need. Form handling on a website, and maintaining the accompanying backend database is a custom job, unless you find script and a database schema that you're either ready to fully adapt, or hack so it meets your needs. IMHO, hacking someone's work to meet my needs is more work than writing my own scripts and schemas.
PHP's greatest asset is it's ease of form handling too. It will take you less time to create the script to handle your form with PHP than it would to find & modify one.
