    You could use some PHP script to post your message to a web gateway, like the one at Lycos...

    It really depends on the Carrier that you will be using as SMS gateway.

    Some GSM operators enable their SMS server to be dynamically linked with an e-mail server. Such scenario is the easiest one because you just have to send emails containing your SMS (around 160 chars).

    But if you're thinking of using PHP for SMSC directly, that's another story.
