    Could anyone help a newbie to PHP out? I'm still learning (painfully sometimes :confused and no one at the f2s forums seems inclined to help, so I'm coming out to hopefully friendlier folk....

    Parse error: parse error in /web/sites/xxx/dragonsfall/www.dragonsfall.f2s.com/php/phptest.php3 on line 4
    http://www.dragonsfall.f2s.com/php/phptest.php3

    The text files are http://www.dragonsfall.f2s.com/php/phptest.txt http://www.dragonsfall.f2s.com/php/template.txt

    It's supposed to be a standard template for the site I'm testing out. I'm sure I've mussed the syntax somewhere or something.

    It's tough to say where your problem is. If you have line numbering on, copy out a few lines before and after line 4 and send them. That would help us figure it out. IS your text file path correct?

    $author = "Angelina Smith"

    your problem is that you forgot the ";" to end the function.

    just replace that with this:

    $author = "Angelina Smith";

    you should eliminate that error.
