Php and mysql
I am new to php. I would like to do the following for my site:
1. registration page. so people can come register.
2. once registered, they can log in using their id/pw
I have my hosting at mycheaperdomain and i created mysql database in my hosting account.
Question: What do i need to know in php and mysql to do what i want to do? could you please list the specific topics that i should learn to do those?

Well, it's pretty obvious.
If PHP is your first programming language, you must start with the basics, such as:
Variables, Classes, Functions, ect ect
Once you've got a good grasp of all that, take a look at PDO or MySQLi tutorials to see how to communicate with a DB.
You'll also need to learn about GET and POST (at the very least), to accept data input from your users. All of this can be found on Google.
I would post some URLs for you, but it looks like I can't as my account is rather new.
Just do some googling. You'll find everything you need.
Use keywords like:
PHP PDO tutorial
PHP GET and POST tutorial
and so on...
There's a lot of video tuts on Youtube, too. So if you prefer learning through videos, use Youtube instead.

Firstly you should refer php tutorials and video which helps you more to learn language.

i dont know what is with the w3schools spam right now, but there is a lot of it.
the only thing you will learn at w3schools is bad habits and crap code.
