    Fix for Custom Email Script

    Hi there. My aim to have a user complete a questionnaire online and for the input to be emailed as a PDF attachment to us. I have found a perfect script - sorry had to circumvent rules on newbies posting links as crucial here!

    I uploaded this to a hosting account I have running PHP 5.3.25 and it worked perfectly. However I also uploaded it to the required account that has PHP 5.4.11 and it comes back with the standard error on completing - see below:

    w w w.gohealthservices.scot.nhs.uk/RGU/form.php

    I am pretty sure it must be a PHP 5.4 problem with the code but cant get hold of the creator to look into this. Looking at the code from the link above does anything obvious spring to mind?

    AM really keen to sort this in next few days if anyone has time to have a look for me or test by uploading to their server running same version?

    Thanks Chris

    So, you have no interest in learning PHP, merely having someone fix your code? If you want help with this, you'll need to post the contents of your form.php file here.

    And, if you're willing to actually break out the editor, you could change this

    <h4>Sorry, an error occurred. Try again!</h4>

    <h4>Sorry, an error occurred. Try again!</h4>
    <p><h4><?php echo $error; ?></h4></p>
    so you might get some sort of idea what the error is. You could then post that error here as well.

    Hmm rather unhelpful reply!

    This is not my code and if you read correctly the creator is unavailable! I have also provided a link to the page and if yiou had looked at it you will find a complete download of all the files as well a step by step discussion on how they were created!

    If I wanted to learn PHP from scratch I would take the 6 months required off work. Forums are the place questions to be asked and help to be given in my opinion.

    In actual fact unlike most folk on here we may be willing to pay whomever fixes this as I donjt have time to learn the intracacies of PHP and other people code. Its a pity you couldnt be more polite in your answer Im afraid it doesnt reflect too well on this site I hope you have nothing to do witht he running of it.

    For those who cant be bothered clicking a web link here is the contents of form.php:

    if (!empty($_POST)) {
    	// Used for later to determine result
    	$success = $error = false;
    	// Object syntax looks better and is easier to use than arrays to me
    	$post = new stdClass;
    	// Usually there would be much more validation and filtering, but this
    	// will work for now.
    	foreach ($_POST as $key => $val)
    		$post->$key = trim(strip_tags($_POST[$key]));
    	// Check for blank fields
    	if (empty($post->name) OR empty($post->email) OR empty($post->about))
    		$error = true;
    	else {
    		// Get this directory, to include other files from
    		$dir = dirname(__FILE__);
    		// Get the contents of the pdf into a variable for later
    		$pdf_html = ob_get_contents();
    		// Load the dompdf files
    		$dompdf = new DOMPDF(); // Create new instance of dompdf
    		$dompdf->load_html($pdf_html); // Load the html
    		$dompdf->render(); // Parse the html, convert to PDF
    		$pdf_content = $dompdf->output(); // Put contents of pdf into variable for later
    		// Get the contents of the HTML email into a variable for later
    		$html_message = ob_get_contents();
    		// Load the SwiftMailer files
    		$mailer = new Swift_Mailer(new Swift_MailTransport()); // Create new instance of SwiftMailer
    		$message = Swift_Message::newInstance()

    					   ->setTo(array($post->email => $post->name)) // Array of people to send to
    					   ->setFrom(array('no-reply@net.tutsplus.com' => 'Nettuts+')) // From:
    					   ->setBody($html_message, 'text/html') // Attach that HTML message from earlier
    					   ->attach(Swift_Attachment::newInstance($pdf_content, 'nettuts.pdf', 'application/pdf')); // Attach the generated PDF from earlier
    		// Send the email, and show user message

    It's a terrible, terrible world we live in where highly paid professionals won't go out of their way to help ungrateful jerks for free.

    Just terrible.

    Go pay someone to fix this code for you. If you had read anything, you may have stumbled over the new user guide or the forum rules, both of which say not to write the kind of posts you've written.

    If you'd like to visit a website where you can look at code, I suggest the PHP manual.

    HEY! YOU! Read the New User Guide and Forum Rules
