    500 Internal Server Error

    Hi:

    This seems like a pretty silly question...

    I have a site which is developed on a PHP / MySQL framework and works fine on my development server (MacBook Pro / XAMPP).

    When I move it to the production server, I get a 500 "Internal Server Error".

    The site is located in a subfolder and the path is:
    www.[domain-name].com/folder1/index.php

    So I tried a test

    I created two simple files: index_test.html and index_test.php. The code for each is below.

    I loaded both files in the folder: www.[domain-name].com/folder1/. the html file worked fine the php file threw the error

    Then I loaded both files into a different folder at the same level, i.e. www.[domain-name].com/folder2/.

    The html and php file both worked fine.

    In both tests, both files are being served by the same server. I can't figure out what would cause the discrepancy.

    Does anyone have a suggestion what I should be looking for?

    Thanks

    index_test.html:
    Code:
    <!doctype html>
    <html lang="en">
    	<head>
    		<meta charset="utf-8">
    		<title>TEST</title>
    	</head>
    	<body>
    		<p>
    			Hello World, from The New CRM
    		</p>
    	</body>
    </html>
    index_test.html:
    PHP Code:
    <?php

    echo "Hello World, from The New CRM";
    ?>

    Yes: the server error log, so you can get an error message instead of having to poke around blindly until you happen to stumble across the answer.

    Thanks!

    For whatever reason the server error log is not available to me (it's a hosted account). The hosting company tracked down the error as a file permissions issue but wouldn't say whether it was their issue or mine... In any case. it's solved.
