    Beginner Question

I have an installition of RedHat Linux 7.0 with PostgreSQL. I also have phpPGadmin installed on a seperate, but networked, NT server. I thought that I had the config files filled out properly, but it will not connect to the postgre server. What could be wrong? I am a total newbie here. How do I even know that postgre is running?

    check DB permissions

A small thing, but you could check the access permissions - see if you have allowed TCP/IP access, and if so, have you included the sub-net that you are going to connect from?

    Don't have the file/path handy.

would also check the ports specified.

Different tack - is there a firewall inbetween that would block the port that you are using?

Depending on the security setting on the RedHat install, some access may be blocked by the OS.

if you can connect (SSH or such) to the server, run top and check for postmaster.
