Configure database to use with PUTTY

I have my database setup and I want to access it and run commands via putty.

the database is not local and Ive been trying differente configurations but I always get the Network Error in putty. What do I need to do to login to a remote server and have access to my database.

    thank you..

putty is not a postgresql client, you cannot connect directly to a postgresql server using it.

If you have SSH access to the server then you can connect to the server using putty and either use the postgresql client that is (probably) installed on the server, or use a local postgresql client and tunnel over the SSH connection.

If your postgresql server is accessible remotely then you can use a local postgresql client to connect directly to it.

Again: putty does not "access" the database.

It's a tool to open a commandline to a remote computer. From that commandline you can e.g. start psql if that is installed on the remove computer.
