OS : Win 2K ,sp3, build 2195
DB : 7.3.2
have an issue here, I can connect to my postgres database thru the cygwin utility/unix emulation...
I do have postmaster service installed but can't start it automatically..
I have to run this command to run it...
$ /usr/bin/pg_ctl -D /usr/share/postgresql/data -l logfile start
postmaster successfully started
psql: FATAL: Database "Administrator" does not exist in the system catalog.
Trying to connect to it thru any other client utility doesn't help as it looks for a user and I guess I can connect as a superuser, like this...
$ psql nickgres
Welcome to psql 7.3.2, the PostgreSQL interactive terminal.
Type: \copyright for distribution terms
\h for help with SQL commands
\? for help on internal slash commands
\g or terminate with semicolon to execute query
\q to quit
nickgres=# select * from weather
city | temp_lo | temp_hi | prcp | date
San Francisco | 46 | 50 | 0.25 | 1994-11-27
San Francisco | 43 | 57 | 0 | 1994-11-29
Hayward | 37 | 54 | | 1994-11-29
As you can see I can query the table's etc and carry out all the stuff thru the cygwin console..
But connecting thru a utility such as ems pgmanager or pgadmin II doesn't work as I don't know which user/pwd to give(have tried the local NT admin password).
My two worries are:
 How do I automate the postmaster startup thru the services.
 How do I connect thru other client management tools.
Thanx much in advance....
