How to connect pgadmin to an existing database?

Hi everybody,

I'm new of postgresql and this is my problem:

I need to connect pgAdmin3 to a database that has been merely copied in the hard disk.
This database is not a backup to be restored, it's just a copy of the files from another pc's hard disk.

I googled to find a way to connect pgadmin to an existing database, but no luck...

Can anyone help me?

Thanks!!
Gianni

PS
My version of postgresql is 9.1, the version of the database is 8.0.
S.O. is Windows 7.

I am pretty sure that it is not possible to connect to pgadmin to the raw database files, you need to have the database being served through the database server.
