New data structure in source code....

Hey guyz,

Can u tell me if i want to have a new data structure inside postgresql, in which file of source code should i write it??
Also, when a query like select is fired, can u tell me where exactly(in which file) the comparison is done to check whether a relation exists or not..? I mean to say where is the mapping of relation-relationId is stored exactly??
