database dumping problem
I'm trying to dump a database and I received the error message below
DumpComment: SELECT failed: 'ERROR: dtoi4: integer out of range
Im using Postgresl v7.1.3
When I tried using pg_dump from Postgresql v7.3.4 the error message below appeared.
Attempt to lock table "tablename" failed. FATAL 1: LockAcquire: lock table 1 is corrupted
Has anybody experienced this problem? Please help. Thanks in advance

can you try a different option on pg_dump, like only doing the schema, or only doing the data?
these options would be
respectively. The error you're getting is weird, I don't know about that but maybe you can get out the data and rebuild the schema or vice versa. You could also try specifying a --table=TABLE option to see if it's only having problems with one table.

Thanks for your help. What I did was create a script that will dump the tables individually. This worked rather that issuing a single dump command to dump all the tables. What I ment about using pg_dump of a newer version of Postgresql was that I installed a newer Postgresql version from another machine and use the pg_dump command that came with the newer version as the dump client to the database I want to back up. I worked if dumping single tables individually but nod dumping the whole database.
