I found a limited few backup scripts for PostgreSQL on Linux servers but I honestly don't know how well they work and things I need to take into consideration. Our database is a stand alone server (virtual) on a GNU/Debian Linux OS. I'm running 9.1.3 which has exactly 4 unique databases not including 'postgres', 'Template0, & Template1 default databases.

My question is I'm looking for a way to automate my backups for PostgreSQL. Either using pg_dump, pg_dumpall, or something else.

Here's the link I mentioned above but can someone tell me the best way to backup this database using an automated script? Just something easy / simple.

Thanks!
