    I need to start mysql manually, without systemd

    I am trying to install a complete application inside of a Docker container.

    I can NOT use any of the current Docker images, because the application only works with a specific
    version of Postgres at this time.

    And, we only use RedHat or CentOS for internal development.

    I need one of two things:

    1) I need instructions on how to install Postgres in a Docker container, from scratch.

    2) Or, I need to know how to start all Postgres services, from the command line, without the "service"
    or "systemctl" commands. Without using SystemD.

    To be honest, I "believe" I managed to get the specific version of Postgres I need, installed in a Docker
    container, Friday of last week.

    But, I have been trying to reverse engineer the systemctl script, to start Postgres manually, but I am still
    getting "D-Bus" errors, when I try to start the database manually.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    joef.

    One additional comment.

    I also need to know how to stop, reload, etc., from the command line, without using SystemD.

    Looking at the script in this question's answer, it seems you would just use the pg_ctl utility to handle start/stop/reload.

    Code:
    ExecStart=/usr/local/pgsql/bin/pg_ctl start -D ${PGDATA} -s -w -t ${PGSTARTTIMEOUT}
    ExecStop=/usr/local/pgsql/bin/pg_ctl stop -D ${PGDATA} -s -m fast
    ExecReload=/usr/local/pgsql/bin/pg_ctl reload -D ${PGDATA} -s
