connecting c++ to mysql without mysql++

Hi I'm trying to connect a c++ program to a mysql database but due to the woefully old version of gcc (v2.6) I'm using, I'm unable to use the mysql++ API.

Is there another way to connect? I cannot update GCC as I don't have the authority.

    Many Thanks.

Is there a version of mysql++ that would work with gcc 2.6? If so where can it be found?

    Fonzo,

Use the C API, which is entirely accessible from C++. MySQL++ requires a special library, which may not be installed on your system given that you're using an antique version of gcc.
