    Magical Square Root in the Quake 3 Engine


    Hello C Forum!

    I recently ran across this article on Carmack's sqrt implementation in Quake 3 that I thought you all (especiall Wei) would enjoy.

    That is pretty awesome. The tiny relative error wouldn't matter at all for graphics rendering, I suppose.

    Right, like it says in the first bit of code, the second iteration is commented out (because one iteration is as good as they needed for 3d code I guess).

    I thought the Source engine was impressive when I dove through it, now I'm going to have to look at Q3.
