What programming language is windows written in

Just wondering, I think a C++ is the closest thing on the forum, although I'm sure they would use something like binary.

Just wondering if anyone wants to help me out.

binary isn't a programming language. it's a number system, whereby all values are base 2 instead of base 10 (decimal).

Windows was originally programmed in C/C++ and probably still is - apart from bits of low level bootstrap code (prolly including bits of assembler) and some high level fluff in VB which generally manifests iteself in the form of a big juicy viral petridish for muppets like this to exploit. *sigh*

Well, NT was originally written in C. No C++. Most likely the same is true for 9x. Additionally, as much as C is not an OO language, there is a concept of objects in the OS.

they dont go into much detail about what his modified virus does, but I'm sure it's bruital.

How hard is it to learn C/C++.

I've already started learning PHP and it's so far really easy.

sapien: I guess it depends on your level of understanding.
It's hard to give a definitive answer to a question like that, seeings how everyone's learning curve differs. If you picked up PHP alright, you may pick up other languages with ease. PHP is quite different from C* though. :)
I recommend purchasing some books and participating in some
open-source development projects where groups of people submit code. That's what helped me most.
(These forums seem like a decent place in addition to the above.)

I have to say that PHP was rather easy compared to C. I got a real good grip on PHP first and now I'm working on C. For the most part, you have all the same control structures and many of the same keywords.

    But that's about it!

In C, you have to deal with declration of variables and making sure they are of the correct type. You also need to pay attention to memory usage. At this level, C seems really convoluted to me, but that is a result of my not having developed a competency with it yet.

I'm working on it though.
