How to replace prefix and write a wrapper file?

Hi guys, pls teach me how to solve the below problems.

How to replace the prefix g (for GNU) in every gprog definition to new. i.e., NEW OPEN instead of GPROG OPEN ?

How to write a wrapper file called newprog.h (in C) that includes codes to wrap the corresponding gprog definitions and extend the original definitions?

    Thank you very much! :)

It is not that old programmers are any smarter or code better, it is just that they have made the same stupid mistake so many times that it is second nature to fix it.
