    Uint

    What exactly is this and how is it used? The reason I ask is because I have it as:

    UINT test;

    and when compiling it tells me that it is being illegally used. thank you.

    UINT is a typedef for unsigned int. As to your error message, please type it out here, so we can help you out.

    Somehow I think you haven't declared uLen -- remember that in C, the case is important. Can you please print lines 32-36 of testVersion.c here.

    UINT uLen;
    VerQueryValue(lpBuffer, TEXT("\\"), (LPVOID*)&lpTransArray, &uLen);

    // construct "1.2.3.4|1111|2222" string; we'll take it apart in the java code

    //wsprintf(szVersionString, TEXT("%d.%d.%d.%d|%d|%d"), HIWORD(vInfo->dwFileVersionMS), LOWORD(vInfo->dwFileVersionMS), HIWORD(vInfo->dwFileVersionLS), LOWORD(vInfo->dwFileVersionLS), vInfo->dwFileVersionMS, vInfo->dwFileVersionLS);

    The last two lines are commented out for now. So, that is really all on the first two lines.

    Looks all right to me -- funny it should complain about uLen not being declared -- silly question -- have you #included <windows.h>. Also, see if this code sample helps you out:

    That does not really help because it still does not help me understand why I can not define that uLen with UINT. Any other ideas to maybe go around that?
