    Tutorial about installer implementation

I am new to MS Visual C++ & the MFC classes. I am reading a few books and doing the apps outlined in the examples. I have not found any information in the books about installers. I would like know how this works if someone could explain or recommend some reading material.

    Thanks

Creating your own installer isn't generally too difficult, but you might prefer to use a package that somebody else has written for you. InstallShield is the defacto commercial standard. Wise Installer is more affordable and produces very nice installations. A fairly nice free installer is available from NullSoft, the company that makes WinAmp.

When you create your installation, you will need to include any external files that the program needs. DLLs for external libraries must be included, as well as any OCX files.

The important thing is to have a machine available to test them on. You can't test an installation on your development PC, because you already have everything that you need to run your program.

    Windows app installer

    Thanks for the information.

I was wondering how programmers did the install packages.
This is a good start until I know to implement my own installer.

    Thanks again.
