    Suggestion for programming GUI applications?

    Hi,
I am looking for a way to build a GUI application with buttons and controls. However i can't afford the IDE's like C++ Builder or Visual Studio 6 that provide you these.

So i was hoping someone could suggest where i could actually get started on building a GUI application without having to rely on the afore-mentioned IDE's. Are there any free IDE's around that provide this option?

I head of something like WTL but i don't understand anything about it. If possible could someone pont out a good site to help me start learning these? So far mostly wat i done is console type or command line programming so i think i need some tutorials to get started on GUI programming.
