Command line tools
Can anyone give me information from where could I find some good tutorial on how to use command line tools of MS Visual C++

What do you mean by tools? You can find a good listing of the command line options on MSDN.

or u could use linux/bsd and have some actually useful tools

Or get the GNU ports of those tools for Windows.
My most common argument for Microsoft never getting rid of the "DOS" window is that if they did then how am I supposed to run my UNIX utilities.

dwise<< just did some googling and found gdb and strace for windows, cool stuff; i never knew! :)

Yeah, having a foot in either world, I very quickly found that it helped to have a common set of tools for use on either platform. That's one reason why I keep my sockets programming as close to the UNIX model as I can and avoid Winsock's WSA* functions.
So for Windows I got the GNU ports and for Linux I got ... well, Linux. Actually, there are a few tools I have on Windows that I miss when I'm running Linux, but they're all third-party, not Microsoft.
That, and considering my years of experience with DOS and Windows (since my first PC/XT clone circa 1986), I feel like a newbie every time I log onto Linux.
